Our Menasha, WI facility is looking for candidates who want to be Electrician and/or Millwright apprentices. Apprentices within the skilled trade programs get to learn skills through hands-on and classroom experiences in their designated trade.  These trades support the continuous operations of various manufacturing equipment including but not limited to printing presses, extruder/laminators and rewinders.

 

Apprentices will learn to manage daily maintenance activities, complete assigned work, lead by example to reinforce policy and procedures, drive root cause analysis activities, recommend improvements in production methods and preventative maintenance, and participate in continuous improvement team activities. 

Responsibilities

  • Upholds all ethical standards associated with safety, quality and food safety policies and procedures within the facility, including the TC Transcontinental Code of Conduct and Values.
  • Complies with all the standards that are followed in the TC Menasha plant, including, but not limited to – Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Continuous Improvement (CI) and any other processes established within the TC Menasha plant.
    • Responsible for reporting all safety, quality and food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. 
    • Follows procedures for proper handling, labeling, storage, and use of various types of products within the plant or on company property.
  • Participation and involvement in associated committees or activities is highly encouraged
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to help achieve plant goals and targets
  • Balance safety, quality, and productivity to achieve goals in all areas
  • Take action on unsafe situations
  • Ensure effective employee relations, including leading by example 
  • Ensures best practices are communicated and followed up on
  • As knowledge is gained and program completed, provide training, direction and mentorship to other apprentices and peers for performance and process improvement initiatives
  • Attend meetings such as work order back log, vendor/contractor opening and closing meetings
  • Review inventory and request resources (parts, tools, etc) for daily operations and projects 
  • Electrician specific learnings (not all inclusive):
    • Troubleshoot on designated industrial equipment, PLC, Drive, control systems and department machine centers 
    • Use the CMMS system for managing work worders and backlog/documentation, ensure compliance to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
    • Interpret and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
    • Monitoring on facilities AMU/HVAC/OXIDIZER systems.
  • Millwrights specific learnings (not all inclusive):
    • Resurface aluminum core shafts
    • Fabricate and install equipment additions
    • Monitor deckles, feed blocks, nip roll inventory

Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Physical demands include walking/standing/reaching, bending for extended periods of time.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas verbally and in writing and perceiving the nature of sounds by the ear.
  • Physical strengths include lifting a maximum of 50 pounds, or 100 pounds – 2 man lift.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to see clearly at twenty inches or less and be free of colorblindness.
  • Ability to work in areas with the following conditions: hazards such as dust, high noise levels, solvent fumes common in the printing industry and high heat.
  • Work schedule will be a combination of 8-hour days and/or 12-hour COS rotation, based on seniority.
  • Required overtime and covering of partner vacations, plant shutdowns, Holidays and other vacancies will be required.

Qualifications

When your expertise drives us:

  • Experience in Manufacturing or other hands-on craft fields.
  • Experience with Flexo Printing, Extrusion lamination and/or converting equipment a plus
  • Required to attend assigned technical school to obtain Technical Degree in assigned trade.
  • Possess communication skills and be familiar with computer concepts.
  • Different means of communicating and training
